2008 flood photos, Davenport, IA

"These are photos of the flood here in Davenport just this last year.
All photos were taken within walking distance of my home.
Luckily we live at the top of the hill but unfortunately two of my good friends
are not so fortunate so my son and I actually assissted in sandbagging and evacuation
as well as cleanup with one family and volunteered out by Credit Island sandbagging as well.
I have never lived so close to a large body of water
so until I moved my family here to Iowa flooding was nothing to our lives.
Every night this last year we would walk as far as mother nature allowed
and sometimes more than once a day to monitor the river's fluctuation.
My daughter's father volunteered as well in Des. Moines with the cleanup."
