The garbage survey activity scheduled for Friday, October 27 was cancelled. Anyone still interested was to call Roy DeWitt to set up a time to do it at 563-386-9575.

A reminder about the Roadside and Riverside cleanups was announced. It is Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 9am-noon.
Participants were to meet at the Lock and Dam 14 on Saturday.

A scholarship opportunity was discussed. It is available for 2 environmental club members whom are in environmental science class and whose careers have something to do with the environment.

A finalized date was discussed for the fundraising dinner. It was said to be April 20th, 2006 from 7-9pm at the Kahl Building, possibly. The guest speaker will be Doug Peacock who will show movie clips from his adventures.

We then adjourned into our committees.

October 18, 2006

Our first announcement was that volunteer sheets for the Festival of Trees would be coming soon.

All other activity participation sheets will be finalized after today, so please make any necessary choices and changes.

It was also announced that all of the candy bar money has to be turned in by next Wednesday.
Anyone with extra candy bars was to try to get them to Melissa by Thursday, so we could try to sell them at the Trail Symposium activity.

Tan, our Green Campus chair, proposed we fund a rain barrel at the Scott Community College Belmont Campus. All but one were in favor. The proposal was passed.

KJ announced the final costs for the Environmental Club website. 79.95 hosting fee + $9.00 domain name fee + Privacy fees = $115.00 all together.
All were in favor of funding this proposal.

It was then announced that everyone was to send KJ pictures of the club activities to put on our website.

October 11, 2006

Our first order of business was to announce that we are selling environmentally friendly t-shirts for $5.00 a piece.

We learned that everyone is to sign up for at least two activities to get credit in their environmental science class.

KJ announced that we will have an $85.00/per year fee for the website, so we took a vote on paying for that cost, and all were in favor.

We discussed the possibility of a fundraising dinner from 6-9pm on April 19th, which is a Thursday.

A list of activities available so far this semester was announced. They include Iowa Water Snapshot, River cleanup, Roadside Cleanup, Garbage Survey, Festival of Trees, and Nahant Marsh.

October 4, 2006

At the beginning of this weekly meeting we learned about various environmental activities available to participate in. The sign up sheets for these activities will be here next week. The activities discussed were Roadside cleanup, garbage survey, and trail emporium.

Next, we decided we would be selling candy bars for $1.00 a piece starting today. There are 36 and 48 candy bars in a box. The types of candy we will be selling are Snickers, Crunch, and M&Ms. Each member who participates must sign out his or her box(es) and give the money to Ellen when through.

Our activism/education chair, KJ, announced an activity involving snapshots of water on Saturday October 21, 2006 from 8am-noon. Contact KJ for more information about this activity.

Any member who has not yet chosen or been assigned to a committee is to choose one and talk to the committee chair as soon as possible.

We need anyone with a digital camera to take pictures of various members of the club, any environmental activities, or even the environmental class field trips so we can post them on our website.
